What Is The Treachery of Images?
See! It's Not A Pipe Dream - There Really Is Such A Thing As "True Love Always"
I found this video in my Facebook feed yesterday, on a friend's page, and the message of it stayed with me all day long.
Even though I'm a woman with a failed marriage (and believe me, it still bugs me to no end to have it termed that way), and even though I married my best friend and the guy I thought was my soulmate and it all went horribly wrong, I still believe in love.
My parents had it. My in-laws had it. They lived it and breathed it till death did them part, through the hard times and the good times, in sickness and in health. They built a life together and didn't bail out of it or try to take a vacation from it with someone else when it wasn't going so good. They stayed by each other, held onto each other, and came through the trials stronger because of it.
In short, the got it. The love thing. They got it and they never tried to qualify it. They never said "If you dothis, I'll give youthat" or "If you can bethis, I'll be more ofthat." They never forgot to hold hands. Or kiss goodnight. Or laugh.
So even though I didn't get my happily ever after, I'm still hopeful. I'm hopeful enough to say I haven't gotten it "yet". Because they're out there, the people that get it. I'm one of them, and someday, maybe I'll find somebody who loves that way.
